Speakers Luncheon

EVENT POSTPONED

Pastor Frederick D. Haynes has taken a leave of absence from his role at Friendship-West Baptist Church to take care of a health-related issue. We pray for his family, congregation, and medical providers, and for a swift recovery. The Bryan Dunagan speakers series luncheon for September has been postponed until a future date, to be decided, when Pastor Haynes is available again.

BRIDGING DIVIDES

Leading Beyond Your Comfort Zone

In 2024, Friendship-West Baptist Church took a stand against a proposed warehouse development by Stonelake Capital Partners, which they believed would harm their community’s health and well-being. Although the development complied with the city’s zoning guidelines, the church and Stonelake had differing visions for the property, leading to a legal and media showdown.

However, what began as a contentious property dispute evolved into an inspiring opportunity for collaboration. Pastor Frederick D. Haynes III and Stonelake’s Kenneth Aboussie, Jr. chose to engage in dialogue, demonstrating that conflict can be transformed into cooperation through Christian leadership. Their willingness to step outside their comfort zones offers a hopeful example of how bridges can be built, uniting communities for a common good.
