Our Initiatives
-
Youth Mentorship
Right now, they're only 12 to 18 years old, but we see them as tomorrow’s leaders. We mentor underserved students in the Dallas area to help them reach their full potential. Join us as we impact the next generation.
-
Rental & Utility Assistance
Many hard working families who have never needed assistance in the past are facing new financial challenges due to the pandemic. We offer aid to hurting Dallas residents.
-
Food Distribution
-
Job Training
We equip individuals with job training through partner organizations in construction, IT, warehouse logistics, insurance, and more.
-
Prison Reentry
Our Reentry program provides services to men serving time in Hutchins State Jail pre-release through our Faith-Based Dorms and post-release for men residing in Dallas and Fort Worth. The men leave prison with a plan and access to housing, food, clothing, employment training and job training and placement to foster a smooth transition into the community.
-
Financial Empowerment
We offer Financial Literacy training and one-on-one financial coaching to help community members understand their financial challenges as well as plan for a financially secure future.
-
Neighborhood Navigators
Neighborhood Navigators are community residents trained to help their neighbors access the resources they need to thrive.
OUR APPROACH TO CITY WIDE CHANGE
Impact Stories
You can rescue your neighborhood
Leaders like Alendra Lyons from Mill City make DLF’s programs possible. She came back to her childhood hometown in 2011 to find once quiet streets had been claimed by drug dealers and makers of violence. “You live in that community,” Lyons said. “Not the houses, not the trees. It’s you. And if any change is going to happen, you have to be the one to be the driving force of making those changes.”
